Privacy Policy
Effective 29 October 2026
The short version: your tabs never leave your browser. The extension sends one thing over the internet, your Pro license key, and only to Dodo Payments to check it. The extension has no analytics, ads or trackers. This website sets no cookies and counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which can't identify you. We never sell your data.
Who we are
Tab Brainrot Meter (the Chrome extension and this website) is made and run by Aditya Andurkar, an individual developer based in India. In this policy “we” and “us” mean Aditya Andurkar. We are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at tabcheckenquiry@gmail.com about anything in this policy, including requests and complaints.
What the extension handles
| Data | What it's used for | Where it's kept | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|---|
| How many tabs you have open | Showing your count, level and notifications | Only in memory while it's used | No |
| Tab titles, web addresses, icons and when each tab was last used | Choosing which tabs a cleanup closes, and listing closed tabs so you can restore them | Closed tabs (up to 200) in your browser's local extension storage | No |
| The last tab count you were notified about | Not repeating the same notification | Session storage, deleted when you close the browser | No |
| Your Pro license key, its activation ID and when it was last checked | Unlocking Pro and checking the key is still valid | Your browser's local extension storage | Yes, to Dodo Payments only (see below) |
When the extension talks to Dodo Payments
- When you enter a key, it sends the key and a label for this browser (for example “Chrome 2026-10-28”) to activate it.
- About once a week, it sends the key and its activation ID to check it hasn't been refunded or disabled.
- When you click “Remove key”, it sends the key and activation ID to free up that activation.
Nothing else is sent: no tabs, no browsing history, no device identifiers.
Permissions, and why each is needed
- Notifications: to tell you when you cross a tab threshold.
- Storage: to keep the closed-tab list, notification state and license key on your device.
- Tabs (optional): asked for the first time you run a cleanup, so the extension can see tab titles and addresses. Counting tabs doesn't need it. You can turn it off any time in chrome://extensions.
- Access to live.dodopayments.com and test.dodopayments.com: to check license keys. No other sites.
The extension never reads the content of the pages you visit, never runs code downloaded from the internet, and contains no analytics or advertising code.
When you buy Pro
Pro is sold by Dodo Payments, which acts as our merchant of record and reseller. When you pay, you give your name, email address, billing country and address, and payment details directly to Dodo. Dodo's privacy policy covers how Dodo uses them.
Dodo shares the following with us so we can run the product: your name, email address, country, what you bought, the amount and date, your order ID and the status of your license key. We never see your card or bank details. We use this information only to deliver your license, answer support requests, handle refunds and disputes, prevent fraud and keep the records the law requires.
This website
This website sets no cookies, uses no local storage, and loads nothing from other companies: no ads, embeds, social buttons or outside fonts.
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Visitor statistics
To see how many people visit and which pages they read, the site uses Vercel Web Analytics. For each page view it records the page address, the site that linked you here, your country and region, your browser, operating system and device type, and the time. It doesn't use cookies or store anything on your device. To count unique visitors, Vercel creates a code from your request that is reset every 24 hours, so visits can't be linked across days or to other websites, and your IP address isn't stored with the statistics. We only ever see totals, never individual visitors.
Because nothing is stored on your device and no one is identified, there's no cookie banner. If you'd still rather not be counted, a content or tracker blocker will stop the analytics script, and the site works the same without it.
When you email us
We receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and help you. Our email provider stores these messages on our behalf.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
- Contract: activating and checking your license and providing Pro.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the website and licensing secure, preventing fraud, answering your messages, and counting visits in aggregate to improve the site.
- Legal obligation: keeping purchase records for tax and accounting.
- Consent: the optional tabs permission, which you can withdraw in chrome://extensions.
Who we share data with
Only the service providers above: Dodo Payments (payments and license keys), Vercel (website hosting and visitor statistics) and our email provider. We don't sell or rent personal data, share it for advertising, or use it to build profiles. We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and India. Where the law requires it, they use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Data on your device: until you clear it in the extension or uninstall the extension, which deletes everything.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to 8 years.
- Support emails: until your request is resolved, then for up to 24 months.
- Website request logs: held by Vercel for a short period under its own policy.
- Visitor statistics: kept only as anonymous totals; the daily visitor code is discarded after 24 hours.
Your choices and rights
You control the data on your device:
- Clear the closed-tab list from the graveyard in the extension.
- Click “Remove key” to delete your license key from the browser.
- Turn off the tabs permission in chrome://extensions.
- Uninstall the extension to delete all of its data.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or export the personal data we hold about you, to object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent. Email tabcheckenquiry@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm the email address you bought with so we don't hand your data to someone else.
If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority. In India that's the Data Protection Board of India. In the EEA it's your local supervisory authority, and in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office. California residents: we don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA.
Children
Tab Brainrot Meter isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. Pro must be bought by an adult, or by a minor with a parent or guardian's permission. If you think a child has sent us personal data, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Everything the extension runs is bundled into it; it never loads code from the internet. A strict content security policy stops it from contacting any site except Dodo Payments. There are no secret keys in the extension, and every connection uses HTTPS. The source code is public on GitHub, so anyone can check these claims. To report a security problem, see the contact page.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
Tab Brainrot Meter's use of information it receives through Chrome's extension APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Tab data is used only to provide the extension's features, is never transferred to anyone, and is never used for advertising, credit decisions or any purpose unrelated to those features.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects what data leaves your device, we'll also announce it in the extension's release notes before it takes effect.
